Why the new site? The Clappham Common Tennis League is part of a growing family of tennis leagues. Keeping them together in one place will help our administration. It will also free us from pop-up ads etc. Please bookmark the new site. Scores for the current round will now be updated on the new site (sorry for any inconvenience). This site will remain for the time being as an archive.

So, to remind you again! The new league address is www.localtennisleagues.com/claphamcommon

Welcome to the Clapham Common Tennis League!

The first Mixed Doubles round is now underway and will run until 15 November, 2009

The autumn round of the singles (round 5) is also running and will continue until  15 November

The next round (round 6) will run from Monday 18 January to Sunday 14 March, 2010. The deadline to join is Monday 11 January. If you would like to play, just go to the Join Now page

If you haven't played before, this is how it works:
  • It is a mixed (men and women) singles league
  • It's open to any one over the age of 18
  • It doesn't matter what standard you are. It's open to all, from beginners to advanced
  • It’s divided into groups of about 6 players of similar ability
  • Everyone in their group plays everyone else on the courts at Clapham Common less another venue suits both parties
  • Matches are the best of three tie break sets (allow 2 hours per match)
  • It’s up to everyone to arrange their own matches
  • You get one point for every set you win
  • The WINNERS of each group receive a £20 prize
  • You get a FREE can of balls and two bonus points if you complete three matches by the half way point
  • At the end of the round, where possible, two players go up, two go down and two stay put. For those who want to, it then starts again with a new round.
  • It costs £10 to join each round (this does not include the cost of the courts)

The League and LTA Ratings
In theory we would like this to be an LTA rated league - and for those who have ratings already we will submit qualifying results. However, the membership review at the LTA makes getting a new rating now a complicated business. If you are interested, keep an eye on the LTA's website (http://www.lta.org.uk/)
